‘The Walking Dead’ season 7’s episode 3, entitled “the Cell”, will follow Daryl as he suffers under the Savior’s rule and Negan’s torture. Meanwhile, Andrew Lincoln talked about his character Rick’s transformation from a leader into a submissive and broken man.
The synopsis for episode 3 posted on Carter Matt stated, “A completely new group of survivors living in an impressive community that seems to have it all, but for [what]? A price is introduced.”
Judging by the episode’s promo, it seems that the incoming episode will follow Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) suffering under Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) rule after he was kidnapped by the Saviors as part of Negan’s plan to subdue Rick.
According to the Independent, the incoming episode will introduce the Savior’s home based called the Sanctuary. The location is a large factory surrounded by a chain-link fence and protected with a wall of walkers and stone barricades.
Daryl is seen stripped of his signature crossbow and jacket and is forced to wear dirty clothes with the letter “A” emblazoned on it. In one scene, he is seen kneeling before Negan together with Dwight (Austin Amelio).
Meanwhile, Lincoln talked about how his character Rick Grimes came from being a leader into a broken man under the control of the series’ latest villain Negan. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 43-year old star opened up about season 7’s controversial premiere saying, “It was what you saw: it was very intense and like nothing else we've ever shot. My chief concern was to tell the story of a defiant man [Rick] being turned into an obedient man through grief and trauma, which is why the chronology was in that way.”
He continued, “You start with a man saying, "I'm going to kill you," and at the end of the episode, you get a man begging and thanking this monster who has killed two of his family for sparing his friends and family's lives — and arm. It wasn't a cake walk! If I had known — the script came quite late — I probably would have stayed on the plane if I got it before I came out to Atlanta. It was pretty hardcore.”
When asked if Rick would recover from the trauma of having two of his friends killed, Lincoln replied, “This is the lowest point in a whole calendar of bad days in the zombie apocalypse, this is Rick's worst. It's going to take an enormous amount for him to recover — and everybody else to recover — from this devastating double blow of grief and trauma.”
‘The Walking Dead’ season 7’s episode 23, entitled “The Cell”, is scheduled to premiere on AMC on November 6, 2016.
