“The Winds of Winter” is still not out yet and it is surprising that fans are still waiting even after eight years and repeated failure of George RR Martin to release the boon on his given date. This year, the author has been more open about his progress regarding his writing of “TWOW” and admitted that even himself is frustrated that the book has not been published yet.
Martin also confessed that he is struggling to complete “The Winds of Winter” and point at distractions as the main reason why he can’t write at a fast pace. Mainly, he said that the “Game of Thrones” series play a big part as to why he is unable to finish the sixth book in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series.
“I’ve been struggling with it for a few years,” Martin told The Guardian. “‘The Winds of Winter’ is not so much a novel as a dozen novels, each with a different protagonist, each having a different cast of supporting players, antagonists, allies and lovers around them, and all of these weaving together against the march of time in an extremely complex fashion.”
Martin’s promised publishing date
In May, GRRM made a promise to release “The Winds of Winter” in July 2020 or perhaps August of that same year. He said this after an airline advertisement from New Zealand made an offer to fly him for free in their home country so he can finally finish his book.
He declined the offer and assured everyone that he will be done by the time he attends the Worldcon in NZ next year. The event is scheduled to happen at the end of July 2020. Now, the question is, will he be able to keep his promise this time?
The author is not yet done with the book
Martin post another entry on his blog site earlier this week, and he informed his fans that he is back home to Santa Fe. He explained that he attended conventions, visits places in Ireland and proud that he also received many awards from various organizations during his stay.
In his entry, George RR Martin also unknowingly revealed that he is not done with “The Winds of Winter” yet and his month-long stay in Ireland further delayed the book. He revealed that when traveling, he doesn’t bring his computer with him as he doesn’t write when he is on the move. This only means that he did not work on the book for weeks, but hopefully, this will not cause any more delay with his set publishing date.
“I do not travel with a computer, so I returned to the usual one thousand unanswered emails, Martin wrote on his blog. “Thankfully, a lot of them were spam or junk mail, so I was able to get through them quickly.”
