“The Winds of Winter” is finally coming out next year and this was affirmed again by George RR Martin recently. The author was at the “Fire and Blood” Q&A event in London a few days ago, and he shared some new details about the book and his other schedules.
Although the event was for the release of the “Fire and Blood” volume 2 book, the author of “The Winds of Winter” also talked about his writing schedule for this year and the next. He mentioned that the volume 2 of the history of the House Targaryen will not be out next year and may take a while because still needs to finish the sixth and seventh book in his “A Song of Ice and Fire” series.
Martin’s writing schedules for his upcoming books
The writer from The Wertzone blog attended George RR Martin’s Q&A, and he shared that the 70-year-old author already planned out the second volume of “Fire and Blood” which will narrate the story of Aegon IV and his mistresses. He hasn’t started writing about Aegon yet, and he admitted that he couldn’t publish the book until he releases “The Winds of Winter” and “A Dream of Spring.”
But then, he shared his schedule with regards on he intends to publish his books. In order, Martin listed these titles according to which he will publish first. However, he did not state the exact dates for their release. First, “The Winds of Winter” followed by “Dunk & Egg IV,” “A Dream of Spring,” “Dunk & Egg V” and finally, “Fire & Blood II.”
The release date of “TWOW”
George RR Martin already confirmed in May that he would publish “The Winds of Winter” in July 2020. He assured fans of this release date by telling fans that he is willing to be imprisoned to a cottage if he will not be able to complete the book by the time he goes to New Zealand to attend a WorldCon next year.
“But I tell you this - if I don’t have “THE WINDS OF WINTER” in hand when I arrive in New Zealand for Worldcon, you have here my formal written permission to imprison me in a small cabin on White Island, overlooking that lake of sulfuric acid, until I’m done, he wrote.
This statement about the release of “The Winds of Winter” in 2020 was also repeated at the recent “Fire and Blood II” Q&A event. Thus, fans can expect the book to be in their hands in a year or less.
