Gamers now have another reason to go back to the world of The Witcher 3, at least those with an Xbox One X console. The game got a major upgrade for the Microsoft game box, sporting sweet 4K visuals and buttery smooth 60 frames per second. Players just need to download and install the update to get these new features.
Although there were some doubts as to whether or not CD Projekt Red would actually work on a special console version of its critically-acclaimed open-world RPG set in the universe created by Andrzej Sapkowski, it seems the Polish development company has come through for its fans yet again. More than simply giving players upgraded graphics, they are also given options, Gamespot reports.
Once the update has been downloaded and installed, players on the Xbox One X will get two graphical options for The Witcher 3. One is the 4K Mode, which obviously provides improved resolution. This makes the already gorgeous world of the game even more beautiful, but the frame rate remains at 30fps.
The other is Performance Mode, which is exactly as it sounds in that it boosts the frame rate to 60fps while also aiming for 4K. Due to the limitations of the console despite its upgrades, some areas in the game will drop below 60fps. However, this is the chance for Xbox One X players to experience the game with enhanced visuals.
For PlayStation 4 players, CD Projekt is also working on providing High Dynamic Resolution (HDR) support for the PS4 Pro, Kotaku reports. This particular update will improve colors and clarity in the game for the Sony console, but it won’t likely be as huge a leap in visuals or performance as that on the Xbox One X. While there is no set date, the update is expected to come soon.
