‘This Is Us’ Season 3 Air Date, Spoilers: New Characters Revealed; First Look Confirms ‘Blast from the Past’ Theme

“This Is Us” season 3’s new teaser photos have been unveiled and they offer glimpses of what to expect in the drama when it arrives this month. The previews also confirm that this installment will show some backstory, so it is set in the past, when Rebecca and Jack were younger.

Moreover, most of the mysteries and unanswered storylines will finally be explained in “This Is Us” season 3 as it goes back to the beginning when the events happened. As per EconoTimes, the story will pick up at the time when the Big Three celebrated their 38th birthday and it will be emotional.

Plot

Executive producer Isaac Aptaker sat with Glamour and he shared what will happen in “This Is Us” season 3. He said that they will show the family a year following Jack's (Milo Ventimiglia) death.

"It happened in February of their senior year of high school, which is a seminal time no matter what,” he said. “They also had this tragedy occur, which affects the rest of their lives, so we're going to dive into that year where there're so many stories to tell about the decisions they make and the way they react to their father's death shaped the trajectory for the next 20 years of their lives."

In addition, “This Is Us” season 3 will reveal how Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Miguel (Jon Huertas) actually got reconnected on social media and what happened after that. They got married but there were unrevealed events in between that time they just got in touch and the time they decided to tie the knot. This will be one of the drama’s highlights.

According to Aptaker, Miguel has a big role in Rebecca’s life after Jack passed away and they will show it in “This Is Us” season 3.

Speaking to Variety, he said, "Miguel is the man who tries to step in and help Rebecca manage the Big Three as she's putting her life back together."

Meanwhile, the new teasers show “This Is Us” season 3 set in Vietnam. It was a time when Jack was in that country during the war. A glimpse of Jack and Rebecca’s early courtship is also depicted in one of the photos. Check out the image teasers on E! News.

Air Date, Episode and Cast

“This Is Us” season 3 first episode is titled, "Ave Maria" and it will be shown on Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. The other cast members who are set to return are Randall (Sterling K. Brown), Kate (Chrissy Metz), Kevin (Justin Hartley), Toby (Chris Sullivan) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson). Michael Angarano was also added to the lineup and confirmed to play Jack’s brother.
