Hollywood and Torrent resources can be considered the worst of enemies due to the fact that the former perceives the latter as a threat to its bottom line. However, there have been cases where members of the California movie paradise have been loosening up with regards to sharing contents for free. In fact, a director just posted his movie on a Torrent site before it even released.
The movie, in question, is titled “Adopting Trouble” and it is a film made by Lee Gardner. Far from looking at Torrent websites as a parasitic infection that is leeching off of Hollywood, Gardner sees them as potential promotional resources. This is a stance that a lot of content producers are beginning to adopt in the age of the internet where hardly any form of entertainment is beyond piracy.
As a result, he coordinated with known Torrent portals so that his film would be posted for pirates to download before it even debuted on Amazon. As far as actions by filmmakers go, this is quite the promising affair and could potentially be the answer to the age-old content ownership war. These kinds of practices might even put an end to the hostilities.
It has been clear for some time now that Hollywood simply can’t match piracy, in the first place. There is no stopping users from posting files on Torrent websites no matter how many times they are reported. By doing what Gardner did, he has generated interest in his film that may have gone unnoticed. For now, there’s no telling as to whether or not the marketing strategy is working.
For those who might be interested in watching “Adopting Trouble” in an official capacity, it is now available via Amazon. For those who would rather check it out first, it’s available via Torrent portals right now.
