Turkish retail sales volume fall sequentially in February

Turkish retail sales volume dropped in the month of February. On a year-on-year basis, calendar adjusted retail sales volume with constant prices dropped 4.9 percent, stated Turkish Statistical Institute. In the same month food, drinks and tobacco sales dropped 1 percent, non-food sales fell 8.2 percent, and automotive fuel sales fell 1.7 percent year-on-year.

Sequentially, retail sales volume rose 0.8 percent in February. Food, drinks and tobacco sales saw a sequential gain of 0.8 percent, whereas non-food sales and automotive fuel sales rose 0.9 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively.

Turkish retail turnover rose 14.2 percent year-on-year. In the same month food, drinks and tobacco sales increased by 18.3 percent, non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 12.5 percent, automotive fuel sales increased by 12.5 percent.

Sequentially, retail turnover was up 1.5 percent. Food, drinks and tobacco sales saw a sequential gain of 1.1 percent, while non-food sales rose 1.2 percent. Automotive fuel sales rose 2.9 percent sequentially.
