UAE motorists are still paying October pump prices as the monthly committee review for November approaches, with Brent retreating from Friday’s high but remaining above its early-October level.

Gulf News reported Brent was below $97 at the start of October, settled at $116.72 on Friday and stood at $110.12 on Monday.

The Gasoline and Diesel Prices Follow-up Committee set October rates at AED 4.40 per liter for Super 98, AED 4.28 for Special 95, AED 4.21 for E-Plus 91 and AED 4.80 for diesel. Emirates News Agency (WAM) published the schedule Sept. 30.

Gulf News reported the three petrol grades were about 16% above September, while diesel rose 11.6%. WAM said the monthly pricing framework takes international energy prices and local market conditions into account. EconoTimes previously covered the pending November review.

At the current Special 95 rate, a 60-liter fill costs AED 256.80. A 10-fils-per-liter rise would add AED 6 to the bill; that calculation is an example, not a price outlook.

Gulf News linked continued oil-market pressure to security risks for Middle East shipments, including uncertainty around the Strait of Hormuz. It also reported higher freight charges.

Goldman Sachs estimates cited by Gulf News put average oil transportation costs above $20 per barrel, up from about $3 last year, with some Middle East routes reaching $35 per barrel. Goldman Sachs cautioned that extended shipping disruption could leave crude above its $90-per-barrel baseline at year-end 2026, Gulf News reported.

Shipping data cited by Gulf News indicate Gulf producers restored export volumes through alternate routes and operational changes, reducing some supply interruptions. October petrol prices remained below July 2022 highs: Super 98 was AED 4.63 per liter, Special 95 AED 4.52 and E-Plus AED 4.44, according to Gulf News.

Gulf News reported that November rates are expected to be announced at the end of October.
