UK Election: Corbyn calls for May’s resignation

Speaking after securing a victory in his seat in Islington North, the Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has called for the resignation of his opponent and the leader of the Conservative Party Theresa May, for whom the election night is turning to be a disastrous one. He began his speech by thanking the police for their work, especially over the last weekend. Added that it has been a great honor to be elected to represent Islington again. He says listening to what people want is an important part of representing them. He says the turnout in Islington is the highest since 1951, and he has got the highest majority ever in the borough. Mr. Corbyn added that he is very proud of the campaign he has run and added that people are turning their back on austerity. He has also called for the resignation of Mrs. May, “The prime minister called the election because she wanted a mandate. Well the mandate she’s got is lost Conservative seats, lost votes, lost support and lost confidence. I would have thought that is enough for her to go actually.” It has so far proved to be a superb night for Mr. Corbyn.
