U.S. Army Seeks Information About Availability of Apple Products

Adelphi, Maryland, June 19, 2017 -- The U.S. Army, Army Research Laboratory, in Adelphi, Maryland, released on Monday, June 19 a sources sought notice in which it outlined plans to enter into a contract with a government contractor who can provide it with a range of Apple MacBooks and peripherals.

In its notice, the Army indicated its interest in gauging the interest, capabilities, and qualifications of certified small businesses (including those registered in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program, as well as those who qualify for one or more types of set-aside contracts) to provide the required products. 

The relevant NAICS Code is 33411, and the NAICS Size Standard is 1,250 employees.

Interested and capable contractors must be able to provide the following:

• 13 Apple 15-inch MacBook Pros with the following specifications:
  o 2.5 Gigahertz (GHz) quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz
  o 16 Gigabyte (GB) 1600 Megahertz (MHz) memory
  o 256GB Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) based Solid State Drive (SSD)
  o Intel Iris Pro Graphics
  o Two (2) Thunderbolt 2 ports
  o Accessory Kit
  o Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide Software

• 13 Apple keyboards with numeric keypads with the following specifications:

• 13 Apple External DVD-Writer with the following specifications:

Responses to this notice must include the following: 

• To what extent each of the specifications can be met
• Type of business (i.e. commercial, academia); whether organization is classified as a large or small business based on the 1,250-employees standard that accompanies NAICS code 334111; and, if a small business, any applicable small disadvantaged status held (e.g., HUBZone, 8(a), Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Women Owned Small Business (WOSB), Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB), etc.)
• Past experience/performance

The contractor who receives this contract also must be registered with the System for Award Management (SAM) database and have as part of the Registration all current Representations and Certifications.
