US CPI rose 0.4% in May

US CPI rose 0.4%, compared to 0.5% expected, although much of it was due to a rebound in fuel prices. The core measure rose 0.1%, slightly disappointing expectations of 0.2%, although the past few months' trend in the annual rate 1.7%) remains upwards. 

Jobless claims of 267k were below the 277k median estimate. The leading index rose 0.7% (vs 0.4% expected). The Phil. Fed business survey rose to 15.2, beating the 8.0 consensus.
