We have finally arrived at the D-day, November the 8th, when the one and half year long US Presidential election comes to an end. It all began in June 2015. Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was the favorite to win this election then and she still is, according to polls (surprising to us). However on the Republican side, Jeb Bush, brother of former President George W Bush and son of former President George Bush was expected to be the front-runner but billionaire businessman Donald J Trump turned the calculations upside down, who wasn’t thought to be a serious candidate and now he has a shot to the Presidency (we expect him to win).
Let’s take a final look at the poll numbers and electoral maps,
- According to the polling average of realclearpolitics.com (RCP), Hillary Clinton is ahead by 3 points nationally. This gap is well within the margin of error, suggesting it can turn out in anybody’s favor.
- Based on RCP’s electoral map, Hillary Clinton is set to win 203 electoral votes and Donald Trump is set to win 164 electoral votes. 171 electoral votes are in the toss-up category, meaning anybody can win them.
- Based on RCP’s electoral map without any toss up states, Hillary is set to win 272 electoral votes and Trump is set to win 266 electoral votes.
All these figures suggest that the race is too close and either side can claim victory.
