Last week marked the end of Republican Party’s national convention, which saw tumultuous protests on the first day, Melania Trump’s speech controversy on the second, and Ted Cruz’s non-endorsement of Donald Trump speech on the third. However, controversies and protest were well expected in the Republican Convention and compared to that everyone would have thought that the Democratic convention, which is scheduled from July 25th to July 28th, would be a peaceful one. But instead, a bigger scandal has rocked the convention.
A release of 20,000 hacked emails by WikiLeaks showed that the Democratic National Committee, chaired by Debbie Wasserman Schultz played favoritism during the primaries and proved that what Senator Sanders’ was accusing the Party establishment of was right. Ms. Schultz announced that she is stepping down at the end of the convention.
Sanders, who will address the convention Monday night in prime time, issued a statement calling for a new direction for the party that would address the concerns of working class and young voters and remain neutral in future Democratic primary contests.
Hillary Clinton camp tried to play down the issue by pointing to the allegation that these emails were hacked by Russian operatives and was released to provide an edge to Donald Trump over Clinton.
