U.S. Presidential Election Series: With Cruz out, it’s time for unity

Biggest news in U.S. election 2016 has been Republican second runner Ted Cruz’s departure from the race. After terrible disappointment in Indiana, where Donald Trump is on his way to win almost every seats, Cruz announced end of his campaign speaking at Indiana.

“Tonight, I’m sorry to say, it appears that path has been foreclosed,” he said. “Together we left it all on the field in Indiana. We gave it all we got. But the voters chose another path.”

With Republican second runner, out of the way, there is no stopping Trump now. The players behind “Stop Trump” movement have lost it. I was wise for the Cruz to drop out, while he still can and not keep hanging there just to prevent Trump from getting the nomination. That would be far more humiliating and would have killed his future tryouts.

Around 500 delegates, still up for grab, Trump is just away 190 delegates from winning an outright nomination.

Those hardline Republicans in the Senate and House of Representatives, who loath Trump and did almost everything to stop him should realize that people have spoken. Trump has electrified a campaign, which hasn’t been seen long in history of Republican race. He is riding a nationalist campaign, which do have a good chance to beat the Democrats to the White House.

But he will require all the help he can get and most of all unity among Republicans, all standing by him. Republicans have already good control over Senate and House, now all they need a candidate in White House.

And for good or worse, Trump is their man.
