US data were mixed overnight, with a slightly disappointing durable goods report, and a solid beat on housing sales. On durables, aircraft orders were a major drag on the headline (-1.8%m/m vs. est. -1.0%), but more importantly, the capex numbers (non-defence cap orders ex-air) just slightly missed expectations (0.4% vs. est. 0.5%).
The most noticeable disappointment was a big downward revision to last month's figures (capex to -0.3% from +1.0%),this was already known after the factory orders report.
May new home sales were even better than the strong expectations (546k vs. est. 523k), and on top of that, there was a +17k revision to the prior month (to 534k).
