The National reported that Aman Ali, 18, and Wasi Ali, 16, were discharged from a Riyadh hospital after surgery, citing their uncle, weeks after their father died in the Oct. 10 airport attack.
Raziuddin said the brothers would stay in Riyadh while treatment continued, the newspaper reported. It said they had abdominal and limb injuries that their family linked to falling concrete and glass. The National reported that they are receiving outpatient follow-up at Sulaiman Habib hospital.
Vipul, India’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, told The National that the brothers were stable and needed further care after surgery. The outlet identified their father as Mohammad Yousuf Ali, 46, an Indian software engineer who handled IT support for a Riyadh bank. It said the family had planned to travel to Madinah for Umrah and that Ali’s wife, daughter and aunt also had minor injuries.
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) reported 12 deaths and 309 injuries. India’s Embassy in Riyadh said that day that an Indian national injured in the attack had died. The Associated Press later reported that the additional death brought the cumulative toll to 13.
The Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen blamed the Houthi militia for the attack on the airport’s passenger terminal. The National said Saudi Arabia paid medical costs for the family and other injured people, while the Indian Embassy offered support to the family.
Vipul said the brothers were expected to return to Hyderabad in the coming weeks after treatment, but gave no specific date.
