NEW YORK, Dec. 21, 2016 -- Varonis Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:VRNS), a leading provider of software solutions that protect data from insider threats and cyberattacks, and Quantum Corp. (NYSE:QTM), a leading expert in scale-out storage, archive and data protection, today announced a technology alliance to deliver secure data access, storage and archiving to customers.
The integration of Quantum’s Artico™ active archive appliance and Xcellis™ workflow storage appliance with the Varonis Metadata Framework will enable joint customers to increase visibility and security for sensitive data and monitoring for all file storage, from primary through archive. Virtually every industry is experiencing exponential data growth, from video, sensor and machine-generated data. All of this data needs to be securely stored, protected and managed for potential future use and analysis, and the combined value of Varonis and Quantum brings crucial functionality to customers.
Quantum Artico and Xcellis Enable Multi-Tiered Storage Approach
Artico is an easy-to-deploy, low-cost solution for long-term retention of large datasets, while Xcellis provides the greatest flexibility in scale and performance to meet the needs of the most demanding workflows. Artico includes NAS connectivity for ease of integration, while Xcellis connectivity choices include NAS as well as LAN client, SAN client and Infiniband access for high-performance shared workflow and scalability. Both appliances provide a single point of access to data stored on different tiers, including disk, object storage, tape and public cloud. Automated, user-defined data management policies deliver data protection and disaster recovery, fast access to active data, and reduced costs by keeping less active data on lower-cost storage tiers.
Quantum’s solutions offer the appropriate storage platform to meet customer needs for performance and value, while Varonis adds critical security that protects valuable data against malicious threats
The Varonis Metadata Framework Platform
The Varonis Metadata Framework platform is the foundation for a portfolio of solutions that collect, store and analyze metadata non-intrusively to protect organizations’ most critical and sensitive data. This distributed, highly scalable architecture was designed from the ground up to accommodate big data processing from heterogeneous platform types – including Windows, NAS, SharePoint, Exchange, Active Directory, Unix, Linux, and Office365 – and present the data back through a single interface in Varonis DatAdvantage, which visualizes the activity for all users, across all platforms. Varonis Data Transport Engine automates retention, disposition and archiving with intelligent migration and configuration. Varonis DatAlert draws on continually updated threat models and automatically learns normal behavior, analyzes all access activity and only alerts on suspicious behavior – thus automating threat detection with predictive threat models built on advanced user behavior analytics, and machine learning.
