Viettel America Corporation (VTA), Viettel Group’s U.S. subsidiary, said Thursday it had gained Select Partner status in OpenAI’s network, a role it says will support AI work for companies and public agencies.
VTA announced the designation in a Viettel Group release issued from Santa Clara, California, at 7:38 a.m. ET on Oct. 15. The release describes Viettel America as headquartered in Silicon Valley and says the company intends to help businesses and government bodies create, roll out and expand AI systems.
A check of OpenAI’s public partner directory on Oct. 15 found 69 organizations and no entry for Viettel America. The designation therefore remains unconfirmed on OpenAI’s public site.
Viettel said VTA’s work could include applying GPT-6 Astra to complex workflows. OpenAI says the model can be used for complex reasoning and computer use. OpenAI describes its Partner Network as a way for companies to develop and deliver AI solutions with the company, with resources, technical support and partner enablement available.
Nguyen Van Phuong, Viettel America’s director, said the arrangement fits Viettel’s “Go Global” strategy. Viettel framed the effort as connecting AI capabilities with its deployment footprint. The company says its investments span 11 markets across Africa, the Americas and Asia, and cites experience in data centers, enterprise systems, telecom services and digital infrastructure.
The release did not name customers, give deployment dates or disclose commercial terms or revenue targets.
