From Humble Beginnings to National Fame: The Story Behind Voodoo Doughnut's Success and Unique Offerings
Voodoo Doughnut was born from the vision of friends and entertainment-oriented Portlanders Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon. Their dream was to create a doughnut shop in downtown Portland that offered traditional and unconventional donuts. This dream became a reality when they opened the first Voodoo Doughnut shop in Old Town.
Voodoo Doughnut's success can be attributed to its imaginative and unique donut options. Just a month after opening, the shop quickly gained national attention, appearing on Good Morning America, The Tonight Show, MTV, and The Amazing Race. As of 2023, Voodoo Doughnuts has 19 locations across seven states, and its fans are always eager for more expansions.
