As one of the biggest television shows in the industry, right now, “Westworld” boasts a considerable following among viewers. These fans will have plenty of reasons to rejoice come June 21 with the release of the mobile game based on the property. The title will basically allow players to control the theme park as they see fit. Players are free to be as responsible or as evil as they want, provided they are willing to deal with the consequences.
As Engadget notes, both HBO and Warner Bros. have been teasing a video game about the hugely popular “Westworld” show for several months. With this recent announcement, the companies have finally provided fans with what they promised, and it’s a Behavior Interactive-built title.
The announcement was made via Twitter, with the official Apple App Store account posting a GIF that is just so fittingly creepy. Seeing a cartoon version of Dolores on a screen with a fly scuttling over her face is just unsettling. The GIF ends with the caption “The park is in your hands” before glitching out, which makes the premise of the game quite clear.
In any case, the game will become available for both iOS and Android devices. It will feature gameplay where players act as employees of Delos, which puts them in control of the park. The main goal is to basically strike a balance between managing the hosts and satisfying the guests.
This will often mean pairing the paying role-players with hosts that can give them the experience they need. While some guests will likely want the standard adventure quests, others might have more risqué interests, as CNET reports. It will be the job of the player to make sure that the whole system runs smoothly by taking these factors into account.
Of course, users can always ignore the main goal and just have fun at the hosts’ expense. The game is free, and by preregistering on the official website, there are more goodies to come.
