“Westworld” season 3 will enter production next month. But an actor who has played a major character in the previous seasons recently said he was “not invited” to join the filming of the third installment.
As previously reported, there are sources confirming that the filming of “Westworld” season 3 will begin in March. This information was recently confirmed by Revenge of the Fans and added that the cast and crew will be back on set exactly on Monday, March 25.
The entire production phase of “Westworld” season 3 is currently slated to last until September. But note, though, that the period of filming might be changed along the way due to various factor. As for now, however, the filming start date is most likely set in stone.
Some of the main characters are expected to return for “Westworld” season 3. However, the fate of Young William, played by actor Jimmi Simpson, seems uncertain at the moment. The actor was present at the Television Critics Association winter press tour for “Perpetual Grace, LTD” on Sunday where he also dished some surprising details about the HBO sci-fi drama.
“I believe for now, Young William, his story is less of a focus there,” Simpson told The Wrap about his role in “Westworld” season 3. “I feel like I can officially say that I have not been invited [back for Season 3].”
Simpson portrayed the younger character of William who, in another plot timeline, is actually the Man in Black played by Ed Harris. In 2018, the latter mentioned about returning on set for “Westworld” season 3 sometime in June.
A release date for “Westworld” season 3 is still under wraps or probably has not been set yet. While fans would like to see new episodes arrive this year, it is becoming more apparent that the show might not return until 2020.
Series co-creator Jonathan Nolan also previously told Entertainment Weekly that there could be an 18-month gap before “Westworld” season 3 is released. When asked about a possible 2020 premiere of the third installment, Nolan said, “It’s an ongoing conversation with our friends at HBO, and for us, with a show of this scope and scale, we’re not interested in doing the compromised version. We want the show to get bigger and bigger and more ambitious and this takes time.”
