“Westworld” Season 3 will be breaking away from its predecessors as Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) has now escaped the park. With the artificial intelligence now walking the real world, serious consequences will be explored in the third entry’s storyline, diving deep in the journey of Dolores, TheVerge reported.
Indeed, the trailer of “Westworld” Season 3 already hinted as much, although it only provided a sliver of information what to expect from the storyline. The clip starts with Aaron Paul contemplating his own reality, providing some background to the perspective of the character, which can be categorized as jaded.
The “Westworld” Season 3 teaser doesn’t even look like it’s from the series as the whole setting has now been transported into a technologically advanced version of the future. It was only after Dolores appeared in the end that viewers are taken back to the upcoming threat to humanity.
Of course, this threat is not expected to fully explore in “Westworld” Season 3 as the showrunners will be focusing on Dolores’ journey and how her perspective will change once exposed to the myriad facets of the human race. Aaron Paul’s dialogue already provided some clues in this regard. A mentally tired individual that is looking for something “real” ends up meeting an artificial intelligence that is gearing up for a global-scale war.
This might also hint that Paul’s character might be enticed to join Dolores’ cause, especially since he’s been shown as someone who has some background for criminal activities. Whatever the case, “Westworld” Season 3 is looking to fill the hole that “Game of Thrones” has left behind. It’s for this reason that third installment might return in April 2020, the month in which the fantasy sage would usually premiere.
As for showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, their new contract with Amazon isn’t expected to affect their responsibility with “Westworld” Season 3. Both writers already said that everything they’ve been planning for the series has been leading up to a bigger conflict, which means that the stake will only get higher from here. After all, an artificial intelligence that has a negative opinion of the human race almost always end up in thousands of people dead.
