The fate of Logan Delos (Ben Barnes) was told by his brother-in-law William (Jimmi Simpson) a.k.a. Man in Black (Ed Harris). But the second season did not show him dying, and that sparked a debate on whether Ben Barnes will reprise his role in “Westworld” season 3.
The second season of “Westworld” was earth-shattering literally and figuratively. The fictional worlds were destroyed, and the various character arcs greatly escalated that it led to many deaths. Though Logan made an appearance in the second season, what happened to him later became vague until William revealed his vices got the best of him and led him to death. Of course, the general belief is without a corpse, a character might still be alive. But Barnes recently commented on Logan’s fate in “Westworld” season 3.
The actor, who also appeared on Netflix’s now-defunct series “Daredevil,” told Digital Spy that Logan is “definitely” dead suggesting that will not be returning in “Westworld” season 3. “It felt pretty definitive the last time,” referring to the storytelling of his death in season 2.
However, it is also important to note that HBO is willing to go the extra mile to make sure no spoilers are revealed for its major shows like “Westworld.” Just like in the case of Jon Snow’s death and resurrection in “Game of Thrones,” fans have already learned that the network and its show producers tend to leave some red herrings to surprise the audience. So it is understandable if some fans would choose to hope for Logan’s return in any way in “Westworld” season 3 despite the statement from Barnes.
While some characters are likely not returning as well, “Westworld” season 3 will introduce a lineup of new faces including Aaron Paul’s still unnamed character but appears to be friendly with the vengeful Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood). The new cast also includes Lena Waithe, who plays the role of Paul’s criminal associate. Vince Cassel will also join “Westworld” season 3 in 2020 as the main villain.
