The release date window of “Westworld” season 3 has already been confirmed recently. However, another important detail — the official episode count — has yet to be announced.
For the first two seasons, the series has had 10 episodes each that somehow gives fans the impression that the same format will be applied in “Westworld” season 3. But Revenge of the Fans reported in February that HBO has only renewed the show for eight new episodes that each would run for an hour.
However, The Daily Caller pointed out that the official IMDb page for “Westworld” season 3 is telling a different story. The website is a trusted source of information for upcoming TV shows and movies. Contrary to previous reports, the site currently lists 10 episodes for the upcoming installment of HBO’s hit sci-fi drama.
“Westworld” season 3 is a highly anticipated installment mostly because of the plot that awaits. It can be recalled that the second season ended with the Delos Inc Park completely in ruins. The major players such as Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) escaping to the real world along with five unidentified control units.
Adding more to the suspense in “Westworld” season 3 is that Dolores and Bernard came out to the real world with Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson). However, there is an underlying mystery that it is just an imposter and could sabotage Dolores and Bernard’s plans. On the bright side, the showrunners confirm that the upcoming episodes will certainly tackle who is this Hale that tagged along with Bernard and Dolores.
“This series is about reinvention and scope. The first season was a more intimate look at the park from within the loops. In the second season, the hosts broke out of their loops and were able to explore more of the park. In the third season, they've broken out of the park itself. We're in terra incognita,” co-showrunner Lisa Joy told The Hollywood Reporter when asked about “Westworld” season 3. The show returns sometime in 2020.
