Microsoft just announced seven new additions to the Xbox Game Pass library. It is not all good news, however, as two highly popular AAA titles are also confirmed to leave the service soon.
Biggest titles leaving Xbox Game Pass in August
Xbox Game Pass members had an early notice that the widely popular “GTA V” is going to leave the subscription service. In late July, it was discovered that the game has been categorized under the “Leaving Soon” titles, suggesting that it will only be available for the next two weeks. Now, Microsoft has provided an exact date of when the game is accessible for free.
In a recent blog post, Microsoft confirmed that “GTA V” is only available on Xbox Game Pass until Sunday, Aug. 8. But players who only started playing it through the subscription service can purchase it for 20 percent off so they will not lose their game progress.
Six more games are confirmed to leave Xbox Game Pass in the coming weeks. Most notably, the list includes “Final Fantasy 7.” The classic game was added to the library in August 2020, but it will exit after a year and is only available on the service until Sunday, Aug. 15. Joining the list of titles leaving on the same date are “Ape Out,” “Crossing Souls,” “Darksiders Genesis,” “Don’t Starve,” and “Train Sim World 2020.”
On the bright side, there are other “Final Fantasy” titles still available on Xbox Game Pass after Aug. 15. That includes “Final Fantasy 8 Remastered,” “Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age,” and “Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remastered.”
Biggest Xbox Game Pass additions this month
As for the good news, seven games were added to the Xbox Game Pass catalog on Thursday, including the first “Skate” and “Skate 3” that are both playable on consoles via EA Play. That means this will require the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
Xbox Game Pass members can also start playing “Curse of the Dead Gods,” “Dodgeball Academia,” “Katamari Damacy Reroll,” and “Lumines Remastered.” These games are available via xCloud, consoles, and PC. Meanwhile, subscribers can also access the “Starmancer” game preview on PC.
There are other notable additions lined up for Xbox Game Pass members this month. For one, the award-winning roguelike game “Hades” is confirmed to be available on Friday, Aug. 13.
