Chinese President Xi Jinping called for a stronger China-Oman strategic partnership during Monday talks with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq al-Said in Beijing, tying it to wider regional goals.

Reuters reported, citing a media pool account, that Xi described expanding ties with Oman as a “shared strategic choice” for both countries. He called bilateral relations a “new historical starting point,” according to the account.

Xi said he was ready to work with Haitham to strengthen the strategic partnership further. He linked it to better outcomes for people in both countries and regional peace, stability and prosperity, Reuters reported.
