Zoom Communications, Inc. is preparing a system that links meeting discussions with company records, aiming to give employees and AI agents context for follow-up work across business applications.

The company's stated problem is that business discussions take place across meetings, calls and chats, while supporting records remain in separate services. Teams may need to piece together past decisions before determining their next steps.

Announced at Zoomtopia on Oct. 20, 2026, the Unified Context Layer is intended to let staff and AI systems draw on earlier conversations alongside company documents and near-real-time activity from Zoom and connected applications. Zoom says configurable controls will help manage access.

The announcement extends Zoom's earlier AI rollout plans. My Notes Workflows is expected in October 2026. It is designed to route meeting summaries into Zoom Chat, Salesforce and other follow-up tools. Teams can choose templates for sales, marketing or IT, or describe in plain language the task they want automated.

Zoom says its new Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and Search & Ask APIs are available now. Connections for using supported Zoom functions in Claude, Codex, Copilot and Muse, along with a conversational administration server, are expected in October 2026. ZoomMate Agent Teams are also available now, the company says.

Zoom expects Enriched Notes in November 2026, followed by Follow the Meeting and an updated Zoom Chat experience in December. AI Guardrails, which would let administrators set account-level rules for AI responses, are planned for the first quarter of 2027.

Zoom identifies employees and AI agents as intended users but has not provided a separate price for the layer. The company also has not announced when the layer itself will be generally available.
