According to /Film, Affleck’s upcoming solo Batman film is scheduled to begin filming in 2017. Although it is yet to receive an official release date and official title from Warner Bros., it seems that development will be panning out well in the next year. It was speculated that the film may get a release for fall of 2018 of spring of 2019.
Joe Manganiello, who is set to play the villain Deathstroke in the film, revealed the start of production during an exclusive interview with ET. He confirmed that Affleck will begin filming “in the spring.” Affleck said during a previous interview, “There is no Batman movie happening yet… We’re still trying to figure it out, you know, get the script and budget and all that stuff.”
Affleck is set to direct, star, and produce the yet untitled ‘Batman Solo Movie’. He was first introduced as the iconic DC superhero in Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ alongside Gal Gadot as Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman. He did an uncredited cameo on David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad’ and is set to reprise his role on Snyder’s upcoming ‘Justice League’ film scheduled for November 17, 2017.
The 44-year old actor and filmmaker revealed his film’s title during an interview with the Associated Press. He said, “The movie I think is going to be called ‘The Batman’… At least that’s what we’re going with right now. I might change it...That’s about all I got right now. We’re working on the script, the script is going well, I’m really excited about it.”
Meanwhile, J.K. Simmons expressed his excitement over returning as Commissioner Gordon for Affleck’s film. He told Yahoo! Movies, “I’m really excited to be working with Ben and, in the future, to be working with Ben on both sides of the camera.”
He continued, “He is such a, you know, not just a great actor, but a moviemaker. And he knows, certainly much more than I do, I mean, we’ve had this conversation. He loves writing and producing and directing and being that, and loves going back forth between that and acting.”
‘Batman Solo Movie’ is an upcoming action-crime and superhero film starring Ben Affleck in the lead role as Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman. It is the character’s standalone film in the DC Extended Universe. The film’s release date is yet to be confirmed as of the present.
