Frédéric Keck

Directeur du laboratoire d'anthropologie sociale, Collège de FranceFrédéric Keck a étudié la philosophie à l’Ecole Normale Supérieure et à l’Université Lille III, et l’anthropologie à l’Université de Californie Berkeley. Il a publié un ensemble de travaux sur l’histoire de l’anthropologie française dans ses relations avec la philosophie (Comte, Lévy-Bruhl, Durkheim, Bergson, Lévi-Strauss).

Après son entrée au CNRS en 2005, il a effectué des enquêtes ethnographiques sur les crises sanitaires liées aux maladies animales : ESB, SRAS, grippes « aviaire » et « porcine ». Ses travaux, au croisement de l’histoire des sciences, de la sociologie des risques et de l’anthropologie de la nature, portent plus généralement sur les normes de « biosécurité » appliquées aux humains et aux animaux, et sur les formes de prévision qu’elles produisent à l’égard des catastrophes sanitaires et écologiques.
Il est lauréat de la Fondation Fyssen en 2007, médaillé de bronze du CNRS en 2011, fellow du Canadian Institute for Advanced Research en 2015. Il dirige le département de la recherche et de l'enseignement du musée du quai Branly depuis 2014.
