The departure of the “Samsung Galaxy Note 7” smartphone left a vacuum within the industry that big brands are trying to fill, and one of the biggest benefactors of the incident is the “Pixel” phones. Before the South Korean made phablet exited the stage, analysts had little hope for the handset from Google to catch on. Now, it may actually stand a chance.
As Android Headlines points out, the smartphone industry can be a messy affair, with users being bombarded with so many options that they tend to go for what they believe meets their needs best. The “Note 7” was generally considered the gold standard for 2016 smartphones by critics who praised the handset to no end. This would have made it difficult for the “Pixel” to stand out as a prospect for users.
Customers do still plenty of other choices when it comes to Android devices, including LG, Motorola, Lenovo, Asus, and HTC. However, each company comes with its own set of challenges that prevent them from filling the void that the “Note 7” left behind with their own devices. With Google, it’s different.
When it comes to features alone, including the much talked-about 1080p display, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, and the latest Android OS version “Nougat,” “Pixel” and “Pixel XL” are perfect for giving customers exactly what they are asking for. Google knows this as well since it has been pushing hard for attention with constant ads about the device, Android Police reports.
Pop-ups encouraging users to pre-order the phones have been observed by surfers when going to the search engine company’s homepage, which is basically what people first see when trying to search for something. Anyone who clicks “Yes, Please” when prompted will be taken to the site’s “Made by Google” page to place their order.
One thing to note, however, is that the Pixel is pretty much sold out at this point. So those who pre-ordered their own handset will need to wait until Google can make some more.
