Reports of hinge-area screen damage on Apple's iPhone Duo have spread through online forums, but available accounts do not establish a failure rate among devices sold.
MacRumors said a small number of reviewers folded test phones repeatedly without finding screen trouble. Posts on Reddit and MacRumors forums have also included images of damaged inner displays.
On X, technology commentator @flyosity said seven photos of similar damage had come to their attention, along with multiple videos on TikTok. Gulf News also noted reports involving demonstration units in China.
An earlier Australian case covered by EconoTimes involved an owner whose phone Apple replaced after screen damage. Reddit moderators said they verified the damaged device and its replacement after reviewing photographs and Apple documentation, but did not determine what caused the break. The case was detailed in an earlier EconoTimes report.
Some have suggested that a hinge component may be pressing against the display. The accounts do not identify the cause or show whether the reported cases share one. Gulf News said its review found no public confirmation from Apple of a cause for the reported failures.
