‘Pitch Perfect 3’ is set to feature the return of Anna Camp as Aubrey Posen of the Barden Bellas. Meanwhile, Trish Sie will be directing the third installment in the musical comedy series in replacement of ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ director Elizabeth Banks.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Camp is on board to reprise her role as the Barden Bella’s perfectionist Aubrey Posen for the third installment in Universal's and Gold Circle Entertainment's musical comedy series. The 34-year old actress and singer was first introduced as Aubrey in 2012’s ‘Pitch Perfect’, which was deemed a critical and commercial success.
Camp herself confirmed the news on Twitter, posting a GIF of her character with the caption, “It's official. She's baaaaaaaaack...! #pitchperfect3” She joins fellow co-stars Rebel Wilson, Anna Kendrick, and Brittany Snow. The three play Fat Amy, Beca Mitchell, and Chloe Beale, respectively.
The series follows Badren University’s a capella singing group called Barden Bellas as they hurdle through competitions as well as challenges in their personal lives. According to Box Office Mojo, ‘Pitch Perfect’ earned $115.35 million worldwide on a production budget of $17 million. It was deemed the second highest-grossing musical comedy film, just behind 2003’s ‘School of Rock’ starring Jack Black in the lead role.
The sequel, simply entitled ‘Pitch Perfect 2’, overtook ‘School of Rock’ with $287.1 million in earnings worldwide becoming the highest-grossing musical comedy film of all time. It was also received with generally positive reviews. It served as Elizabeth Banks’ full-feature film directorial debut.
Banks was originally attached to helm the third installment but dropped out. According to Backstage.com, Banks will continue to stay on as star and producer of the film but will be replaced by director and Grammy Award-winning choreographer Trish Sie. Sie is best known for her work on OK Go’s music videos as well as the 2014 dance film ‘Step Up: All In’.
‘Pitch Perfect 3’ is an upcoming musical comedy film directed by Trish Sie with a screenplay by Kay Cannon. It is produced by Elizabeth Banks, Paul Brooks, and Scott Niemeyer. It scheduled to be released on December 22, 2017 in the United States.
