Rockstar's 'Red Dead' Hint Is NOT A Re-Master, It Could Be A Prequel Though

Giant video game company Rockstar Games recently made the whole internet go completely, utterly berserk with a simple change to its logo. Out of nowhere, it suddenly featured a black “R” icon on a blood red background reminiscent of the “Red Dead Redemption” game. Now, the studio released yet another hint that is only fanning the flames of excitement among fans. Apparently, it won’t be a re-master.

As Ars Technica reports, most other game companies choose to ignite the hype fire among fans of their respective games via showy performances. The annual E3 conference is usually a good venue for any reveal and many developers have chosen to take advantage of the extra attention. Apparently, this is not at all necessary for a studio as big as Rockstar since all they needed to do was send out a Tweet.

This time around, the giant video game developer has released another image containing the same blood red backdrop. The only difference is the seven figures with the distinct silhouettes of cowboys, bringing to mind the classic western movie “The Magnificent Seven.”

The meaning behind the number of figures and the setting of the tease is difficult to miss, largely because Rockstar only has one western video game worth all the hype. More than that, the seven cowboys is indicative of either a sequel or a prequel to “Red Dead Redemption” instead of a re-master or a re-make, Forbes reports.

Polygon notes the similarities in terms of the silhouettes of some of the figures on the teaser and members of the prominent outlaw gang from “Red Dead Redemption” as well. The one on the center closely resembles the figure of John Marston, the last game’ protagonist who was once a member of Dutch’s Gang. The one to his right seems to be Bill Williamson owing to his distinctive hat. This could just be a hugely wild coincidence or they could be signs pointing to a prequel.
