A report claiming that Angelina Jolie is planning to run away with her kids was recently debunked. The rumor started to circulate conveniently as Jolie and estranged husband Brad Pitt were about to go through child custody evaluations.
The tabloid National Enquirer was the source of the rumor, citing an insider that claimed Jolie is planning to bring all her six kids to Paris without letting Pitt know. “Angelina wants to make it as hard as possible,” the tipster reportedly said (via New Idea). “Brad was completely blindsided. This will take their custody negotiations to a whole new level of conflict."
On the other hand, celeb reports fact-checking outlet Gossip Cop is confident that National Enquirer’s report is “entirely false,” noting an earlier court order addressed to Jolie. It can be recalled that a judge instructed the actress to allow their kids, except 17-year-old Maddox, to have regular communication with Pitt.
It was reportedly followed by a court-sanctioned visitation schedule allowing Brad Pitt to spend time with their kids. The court had also ordered Angelina Jolie to give her ex the contact numbers of their children and let them talk or text without supervision. If not followed, Jolie was warned of possibly losing all her custody rights, according to court documents obtained by The Blast.
On this note, it is quite impossible for Jolie to think about ditching the child custody evaluations if it would result in her totally losing her custody rights to Pitt. According to an info sheet from the Judicial Council of California, a child custody evaluations are done to investigate and analyze the “health, safety, welfare, and best interest of the child.”
Earlier this week, PEOPLE reported that the court has assigned Dr. Stan Katz as the evaluator in Jolie and Pitt’s child custody case. Family law expert Steve Mindel, who has no attachment to the proceedings, told the publication that Dr. Katz is a “very well-known child parenting plan evaluator.”
The same report confirmed that Katz has already filed the documents to inform the court that he is qualified and ready to begin the evaluation. On the other hand, Mindel interpreted this as a development in the divorce of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, which was originally filed in September 2016.
