‘Criminal Minds’ Season 14 Air Date, Spoilers: ‘Riverdale’s’ Luke Perry to Return as Villain for Series’s Special 300th Episode

Criminal Minds

“Criminal Minds” season 14 will feature characters who previously appeared on the show. A few select actors were invited back to reprise their memorable roles as the series celebrates its 300th episode. The EP confirmed that one of the popular faces to return is Luke Perry.

The “Riverdale” actor was first included in the show in season 4, where he played Benjamin Cyrus, a cult leader. Although Luke Perry’s character was killed off in episode 3, titled “Minimal Loss,” in 2008, executive producer Erica Messer assured fans that this detail will not affect the actor’s return.

"The plot will make sense," she told Entertainment Weekly. “Several others will be brought back for the episode. It's acknowledging the talent and history of those people."

Messer added that the return of the characters is not just to have them for the show’s 300th episode but that their roles are necessary as well because there will be “a lot of exploration of the history of the show in the 300th episode, right from jump.”

Based on the press release, the plot for “Criminal Minds” season 14’s 300th episode will be centered on the time when Reid and Garcia were abducted by Benjamin Merva (Michael Hogan). The team will try their best to locate the two using various strategies.

"The BAU finds surprising clues in their own history to solve why the two heroes have been targeted by a mass murderer. It’s a race to save them before a 'Believers' prophecy is fulfilled," part of the synopsis reads.

“Criminal Minds” season 14 will premiere on Oct. 3 on CBS and it will run for 15 episodes. This is fewer compared to the previous seasons with over 20 episodes, but the showrunners promised that the quality will not be anything less as it will be just as great.
