JOPLIN, Mo., Jan. 08, 2017 -- Skaggs Chiropractic, LLC is proud to announce that Dr. Steven Skaggs, Chiropractic Physician of Joplin, has been elected to the Executive Board of Directors for the International Hyperbaric Medical Association (IHMA) and the International Hyperbaric Medical Foundation (IHMF) for 2017. Dr. Skaggs is experienced in treating patients with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, a treatment which works to enhance the body’s natural healing process.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment that involves using a total body chamber where atmospheric pressure can be increased and controlled. The patient inhales 97% oxygen, which helps speed up the body’s natural healing and repair process. HBOT can be used to treat a variety of medical issues including infections, wounds, decompression sickness, and tissues damaged from injury or illness.
Dr. Steven Skaggs of Skaggs Chiropractic, LLC began treating off-label indications with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in 2010 after his son Kayle had an anoxic brain injury. Currently, he works with the returning troops using HBOT to treat traumatic brain injuries and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) at no cost to U.S. veterans. Dr. Skaggs also uses this painless and non-invasive therapy option to help patients with a range of medical issues including ADD/ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disease, Acute and Chronic Anemia, Cerebral Palsy, Depression and Anxiety, Diabetic Wound Healing, Lupus, Migraines, Multiple Sclerosis, and much more.
“It is a true honor to be elected to the Executive Board of Directors of the IHMA and IHMF,” says Dr. Steven Skaggs, DC, CCIC. “I have seen how this treatment can positively impact the lives of many patients, and the International Hyperbaric Medical Association and International Hyperbaric Medical Foundation play a big role in the treatment’s success.”
The International Hyperbaric Medical Association and International Hyperbaric Medical Foundation are sister organizations that are on the cutting edge of research and establishing treatment protocols and indications for HBOT treatment. They also work to establish HBOT safety protocols for the public and the industry.
For any questions about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy or to find out if this therapy may be an effective treatment option, members of the public can contact Dr. Skaggs at (417) 624-4242 or schedule a consultation appointment at Skaggs Chiropractic in Joplin.
