"It is an honor to receive The NPD Group’s top selling toy of the year award in the subclass category Action Figure Collectibles and Accessories for our ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ line,” said Brian Mariotti, CEO of Funko. “’Five Nights at Freddy’s’ was our first master licensing agreement and a demonstration of how we combine our leading design and product capabilities with our strong retail collaborations to create a powerful merchandise strategy behind a brand. In just a few short years, ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ has grown from an indie video game to a leading media franchise with mainstream kid-appeal, and we believe Funko’s merchandise strategy was instrumental in the brand’s success.”
“Five Nights at Freddy's” 5-Inch action figures by Funko feature five points of articulation for both posing and play. These action figures of fan favorite characters from the hit video game include a build-a-figure piece to build a bonus action figure when combined with all the figures in the set. In addition to The NPD Group’s recognition, Funko has also been nominated for the 2018 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards, including the Plush of the Year category for its Plush Line, and Collectible of the Year for its Mystery Minis line, both of which will be announced at this year’s Toy Fair on Saturday, February 17.
Mariotti continued, “As a disruptor in the industry, we pride ourselves on having our finger on the pulse of pop culture trends and discovering exciting new content like ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’. With our leading speed to market capabilities, we have been able to leverage the strength of our in-house creative team to move quickly from product design to pre-selling in as few as 24 hours with designs that resonate with consumers. This award is another testament to the hard work of our passionate creative team and fans.”
