‘Gotham’ season 3 is set to feature a brand new cast of villains including Mad Hatter and Talon. Ben McKenzie, who plays lead protagonist James Gordon, revealed that the incoming season will present his character with new burdens as he struggles with being incorruptible.

Executive producer John Stephens revealed that new villains will be making their way on the third season of ‘Gotham’ during an interview with Comic Book Resources. Stephens said, "We'll be seeing Mad Hatter in Season 3. We'll be seeing the Tweedle Brothers, too, if we're going to bring the Hatter in. In line with the Court of Owls, we'll be seeing Talon. And, we should be seeing Solomon Grundy."

Stephens previously hinted at bringing Mad Hatter in season 2 during past interviews but it seems that the series will not be seeing the antagonist until the incoming season. The character first appeared on ‘Batman #49’. Mad Hatter was a former research scientist named Jervis Tetch, who was obsessed with the works of Lewis Carroll. Tetch succumbed to the delusion that he was a reincarnation of the Mad Hatter and is known to employ hats and other head gear with mind control chips in order to control other people.

Meanwhile, Solomon Grundy is a zombie supervillain known for his superhuman abilities – specifically superhuman strength - as well as immortality. The Tweedle Brothers are cousins Dumfrey and Deever Tweed who hide behind the aliases Tweedledum and Tweedledee as they commit various crimes in partnership.

According to another article on the Nerdist, Talon has the potential of becoming the incoming season’s central antagonist. Talon is a highly-skilled assassin working for the Court of Owls, an organization that is secretly controlling Gotham City. He was sent to kill Batman in the original storyline.

It may be helpful to note that in the original source material, the name Talon was used by several assassins under the employ of the Court of Owls. Notable Talons include Uriah Boone, Mary Turner, and Calvin Rose. William Cobb was the Talon sent after Batman.

Besides having to deal with new villains running amok in Gotham City, James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) will continue facing personal struggles as he attempts to do everything in his power to crush the bad guys while maintaining order. According to Caped Crusades, McKenzie revealed more details regarding James for the new season.

He said, “Gordon is never going to be a bad guy. He’ll always be a hero. But to show Gotham as a fallen land, as a potentially anarchic environment, we have to allow our hero to become burdened by that and to do some terrible things. That’s how you maintain power in a wasteland. That’s how you keep the wolves at bay. You have to kill a lot of the wolves.”

‘Gotham’ has been renewed for a third season by Fox on March 2016. No official air date has been announced as of the present.
