Deadline has reported that Chris Carmack just got cast for Grey's Anatomy season 15. The “Nashville” actor will be taking on a recurring role in Grey Sloan Memorial's orthopedic department.
The actor excitedly tweeted about the announcement of his return to ABC via his personal Twitter page to much fan excitement.

Carmack's casting for “Grey's Anatomy” season 15 comes with the departure of Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew, who played Arizona Robbins and April Kepner, respectively.
While there is no news of whom Carmack will specifically play, some details of the casting mention that Carmack will be playing an exceptional orthopedic surgeon. The handsome Carmack is definitely a welcome addition to the show's already attractive cast, which is also known for the relationships that many characters get involved in.
Fans can speculate if Carmack will be taking a different approach to his character in the relationship-heavy show. Those who have watched Carmack in his last long-running series could consider that he played Will Lexington on “Nashville,” a closeted gay man trying to make it as a singer in Tennessee. Carmack's new character could be meant as a substitute for Capshaw's Robbins for another side of the LGBTQ potential romances.
Chris Carmack's casting in Grey's Anatomy also comes at a time when news that CMT has pulled the plug on Carmack's country drama became public. “Nashville” season 6 will be the last to be produced for the series as CMT will move fully to producing unscripted programming.
Chris Carmack himself tweeted to his fans his gratitude for the show's successful season 6 end.
????????????????????????.... so many mixed emotions!!! I’m gonna miss this!! Thank you #Nashies for an incredible run! #NashvilleFinale @NashvilleCMT pic.twitter.com/S4ZKh81oPy

For those excited to see the “The OC” alum debut on “Grey's Anatomy,” the show will return with a two-hour season 15 premiere episode on Sept. 27. Fans will get to see if Carmack will be showing off his character's orthopedic chops during that special date.
