In this day and age of social media’s rise, celebrities’ relationships are sometimes confirmed through their online posts, photos, and comments. So when John Mayer is consistently flirty on the comments section of Halsey’s Instagram updates, dating rumors started circulating.
Reports have noted that Mayer and Halsey are really good friends for a long time now. This could explain why they are both comfortable leaving well thought out comments on their Instagram posts. However, fans cannot help but notice that Mayer’s comments would sometimes end on the flirtatious side rather just being friendly.
Most recently, Halsey shared a photo of her while playing the guitar. She explained in the caption that she might be writing on her upcoming songs but she does not seem satisfied with her outputs. She described her materials as a “MySpace song in 2008” and a “poorly disguised Beatles rip off.” She ended her post by saying, “Someone send help.” And, right on cue, Mayer left her a comment responding to her call for help saying, “I can be over to break your heart in 20?”
Prior to the Instagram post mentioned above, fans started getting more curious whether Halsey and John Mayer are simply friends or not earlier this month. Entertainment Tonight pointed out that Halsey’s previous Instagram Story post might be a hint that she and Mayer are constantly communicating after her most recent breakup with G-Eazy.
Halsey shared a photo on Instagram with the text, “7 am carpool karaoke with John Mayer.” Halsey was not seen in the image but fans saw Mayer was on FaceTime with her while holding a mic seemingly singing to her. Shortly after, Mayer had once again left a teasing comment on Halsey’s photo where she was promoting her lipstick by YSL.
However, a few days later, Halsey set the record straight and insisted that she is not dating John Mayer. The craziest thing was too, is I tweeted him and I was like, 'Imagine this, right: two people are just friends. That's crazy,” the “Bad at Love” singer said in SiriusXM's “The Morning Mash Up” program.
