‘Hawaii Five-0’ Season 9 Air Date, Spoilers: Chi McBride-Penned Thanksgiving Episode to Feature Oscar Awardee Louis Gossett Jr.

Hawaii Five-0

“Hawaii Five-0” season 9 has long been confirmed, and after the announcement, filming immediately followed. Now, the cast and the production team are halfway through or almost done with the shoot for the entire season and fans just have to wait a bit more for its first telecast.

EconoTimes reported that the upcoming “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 is featuring an episode about Thanksgiving and Chi McBride, who portrays Lou Grover, wrote its story and script. Showrunner Peter Lenkov confirmed that the actor already brought the completed script to him.

Now, a new report about the Thanksgiving episode revealed that Oscar awardee Louis Gossett Jr. is making an appearance as a guest. The 82-year-old actor will be playing the father of Lou Grover, TV Line reported.

Pilot Episode

The “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 premiere episode will focus on Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) since he allowed himself to be captured by a baddie group that he believes is responsible for the death of his CIA agent friend. To uncover the truth, he endures being immersed in a sensory deprivation tank known as the "cocoon."

Another highlight to watch out for when “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 airs is whether Tani Rey (Meaghan Rath) will tell McGarrett that she found the murder weapon that was used to kill Noriko (Susan Park). The rookie discovered the gun in the home of Adam Noshimuri (Ian Anthony Dale), the murdered agent’s own brother.

The first episode is called “Cocoon” or “Ka ʻōwili ʻōka’i” and it is a tribute to the series’s 50th anniversary. Peter Lenkov and the late Leonard Freeman have been credited as the pilot’s writers.

Friendship in Hawaii Five-0

The show has managed to reach the golden year. What could be its secret for longevity? According to Honolulu publication Star Advertiser, it is simply friendship.

Friendship or, as the Hawaiians call it, “pilialoha” is the reason why the show is now on its ninth season in its reboot. Friendship has always been “Hawaii Five-0’s” main theme and viewers can see this in every episode. The paper further stated that this tight bond made the characters naturally protect and love each other and this helped the team last for a long time.

Meanwhile, Hawaii Five-0season 9 will premiere on Sept. 28 at 9 p.m. on CBS.
