FREMONT, Calif., Nov. 01, 2016 -- Identiv, Inc. (NASDAQ:INVE) today announced that based on an unblemished performance record that extends 20 years, the City of Westfield, Indiana has elected to expand their Hirsch by Identiv physical access control system (PACS) to manage 250 doors at critical city facilities. The system is used to control access to the city’s Public Safety Building, Fire Stations, Public Safety Training Facility, City Services Center, City Hall, and Grand Park Concessions and Administration Building.

“The City of Westfield chose to work with Identiv because our original Hirsch system was installed in 1996 and none of those original components have ever needed replacing,” said Samuel Rivard, Project Manager, City of Westfield, Indiana. “Most of the doors in the 24/7/365 Public Safety Building are opened an average of 200 times per day. If I have done my math right, that is 6,000 times per month, 72,000 times per year, and over the course of twenty years, that is almost 1.5 million transactions per door with minimal interaction. That says a lot, in my opinion, of the quality and robust features of the Hirsch product portfolio.”
Since 2011, the system has been maintained, serviced, and managed by Identiv partner Open Control Systems, LLC. The City of Westfield is located in Hamilton County, Indiana, United States, with a population of 36,854. The city is fast growing and has been named one of the top 10 “Happiest Cities in the U.S.” and one of the “Best Towns for Families”.
Identiv has been making the most reliable hardware and software for 35 years, starting with Hirsch Electronics. The Hirsch Electronics brand is reliable and well known in the physical security industry. Isolated circuits, fused components, replaceable parts, and a modular, upgradeable design helps keep Hirsch products installed once and rarely visited again. Identiv’s Hirsch Velocity is an integrated software platform that manages access control and security operations in thousands of different facilities, from single high-security rooms to multi-building, multi-location campuses. The modular design and the scalable architecture of Hirsch Mx Controllers enable an installation to start small and grow large, from a single controller system to a larger, multi-site enterprise. Identiv’s uTrust ScramblePad keypad readers are a family of access control products that provide high-security keypad functionality, offered as a keypad only or keypad/reader combination for two-factor authentication.
“After visiting the City of Westfield, Indiana, I quickly understood how they have earned their reputation as one of the ‘Happiest Cities’. A secure environment and efficient city services can contribute to a feeling of safety,” said Kevin Houle, Regional Director, Central U.S., Identiv. “I am honored to be able to help secure this fast growing city, offer such a versatile product, and work with a partner like Open Control Systems. The City of Westfield is a great example of forward-thinking during a time of growth.”
