Most fans may have known Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson through the “Fifty Shades” film series, but they are about to see them in completely different roles soon. Dornan becomes a charming Irish man in an upcoming TV series while Johnson becomes a dance student in a new movie.
Just months after the release of “Fifty Shades Freed” — the last movie in the trilogy — Dornan and Johnson are going to be seen in their respective projects that are nothing like "Fifty Shades." Dornan headlines the upcoming BBC series “Death and Nightingales” while Johnson gives life to Susie Bannion, the main protagonist in the upcoming remake of the film “Suspiria.”
Earlier this month, BBC revealed several first-look photos of the TV series adaptation of Eugene McCabe’s “Death and Nightingales.” Jamie Dornan plays Liam Ward, who will help Beth Winters (Ann Skelly) escape their town and her stepdad, Billy (Matthew Rhys), who is hated by Liam.

The upcoming series, just like the novel, is set in Ireland during the 1880s. This means fans will be seeing Dornan in a very different image. In the “Fifty Shades” films with Dakota Johnson, the actor is almost always dressed with sophistication to remain true to his CEO character. As for “Death and Nightingales," Dornan appears in classic fashion fitting for the 1880s era and even dons a full beard, which hints his Liam Ward character is not one to follow the norms of their time.
On the other hand, Dakota Johnson's character is at the center of the 2018 remake of “Suspiria.” The original film came out in 1977 and was directed by Dario Argento. Johnson takes on the role of Susie Bannion, which was previously played by Jessica Harper.

Amazon Studios has also released the key visual and other teasers for the upcoming movie where Johnson is seen in what looks like a ritualistic dance, while in other shots, she is in the dance studio with her fellow students. Susie is nothing like Anastasia, who used to be very awkward when Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey was around. And above all, Johnson is going to dance in “Suspiria,” which the actress admitted was a “terrifying” challenge.
