Katie Holmes has been regularly attending the New York Fashion Week and this year is no exception. While attending a fashion event in the Big Apple recently, the 39-year-old actress talked about social media and fashion. Unfortunately for fans, her dating life with Jamie Foxx is still off-limits.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Holmes discussed how she thinks one’s fashion sense is likely affected by the images shown on social media. “I think being so inundated with social media, you’re constantly being shown images of what other people have or what other people look like,” the actress said.
However, she insisted that developing one’s style takes time and comes with developing “different parts of yourself.” She added, “Everything will come. It takes longer than you think. Just be good to yourself. Appreciate yourself instead of comparing yourself.” And when asked if she is also still developing her own style, Holmes replied, “Yes, I am.”
Meanwhile, despite being relentlessly followed by a horde of paparazzi everywhere she goes, Holmes confirmed that she never buys anything online. Holmes told PEOPLE that she is not the type to stay up late at night browsing through online catalogs. “I like to go into stores. That space is a reflection of the designer,” she added.
The same interview appears to be strictly about Holmes’s fashion style. But not asking about Jamie Foxx is probably a good call. Holmes and Foxx have made it very evident that they want to keep matters about their relationship strictly private.
Foxx also made it obvious that he does not want to discuss his dating life in the media when he walked out of a courtside interview upon being asked a Holmes-related question. But there were very few instances when the couple decided to go out to dinner and by-the-beach summer dates even though prying cameras were around.
There have been rumors that part of Holmes's divorce agreement with ex Tom Cruise was that she cannot flaunt her dating life in public for the next five years. Some suggested this was the reason why Holmes and Foxx have been making an effort to deny or hide their relationship, which was first rumored in 2013.
The rumored five-year rule was never confirmed, but if it is true, that has obviously expired by now. However, sources claim that Holmes and Foxx would still like to keep their relationship away from the public eye.
