Fox's recently acquired family sitcom featuring “Home Improvement” veteran Tim Allen is coming back for its upcoming installment with a vengeance. “Last Man Standing” season 7 is getting back into the action by tackling the politics that have divided a country in the show's upcoming season premiere.
“Last Man Standing” season 7's premiere episode was shown in advance to members of the press during the Paley Fest Fall Previews in Los Angeles. While not as upfront with the politics like other television series, the “Last Man Standing” season 7's premiere episode is able to deliver both sides of the political spectrum and addresses how it splits families apart.
In an interview with TV Guide, the show's executive producer, Matt Berry, mentions that the show wants to tell a story that addresses the different political camps that are being created across the U.S. and how an American family deals with it. “Last Man Standing” season 7 showrunner Kevin Abbot mentions that Mike Baxter, as a conservative character, is a great starting point to create commentary and discussions regarding recent political issues.
But if fans are worried that the show's comeback might devolve into a political mess, Abbot assures fans that it is not the goal of the cast and crew of “Last Man Standing” season 7 to create political soapboxes. The involvement of politics in the Baxters' lives comes as a natural storytelling extension considering that the writers of the show take into account how the current political climate affects the Baxters. He continues to emphasize that the show is still focused on creating “good, entertaining, and enlightening stories” about the Baxter family.
Fans of the show looking forward to Tim Allen and crew, as well as the new additions to the cast, get into their usual family shenanigans can catch "Last Man Standing" Season 7 air its premiere episode on Sept. 28.
