Oakland, California, Dec. 28, 2017 -- Oakland, Calif. - In celebration of California’s historic first day of adult-use legalization effectively ending a 110-year prohibition in the state, acclaimed cannabis dispensary Harborside will open its doors early for customers 21 and over, with prizes, special deals and festivities. The first 100 people in line on New Year’s Day will be given Harborside flags and commemorative t-shirts signed by pioneering industry leader Steve DeAngelo. Free coffee and donuts will be provided from 6am to 10am, accompanied by a live brass band. Limited-edition merchandise will be offered, along with in-store specials. Steve and Andrew DeAngelo will also be on hand for the cannabis milestone they’ve both fought hard to manifest for decades, with Steve available for autographs and photos. Earlier this month Harborside was deemed the “Best Dispensary” in California by the San Francisco Chronicle’s 2018 GreenState Cannabis Awards.
In anticipation of 2018 legalization, Harborside is currently expanding their retail space at their flagship Oakland location. The new remodel will include a consumption area, refreshed reception foyer and custom cabinetry. In order to provide a more streamlined experience for treasured patients and new customers, a separate counter bar will be added for online order pick-up, and consultations will be provided around displays on the dispensary floor. All free holistic healing and community support services, which are vital aspects of Harborside’s wellness mission, will continue.
Current patients are encouraged to stock up now, since adult-use taxes starting in 2018 will result in higher prices. Patients are also urged to stock up on their favorite brands and products, many of which may not be available in retail stores in January.

About Harborside/FLRish:
"Harborside, a nonprofit medical marijuana dispensary with locations in Oakland and San Jose, California, is looked upon as a model of how others could operate." - The New York Times
Operating since 2006, Harborside https://www.shopharborside.com/ (formerly, Harborside Health Center) is a world-renowned cannabis dispensary and wellness center based in Oakland, Calif., with another dispensary in San Jose, and a cultivation facility in Salinas. To date Harborside has served over 300,000 patient-members. Co-founded by longtime activist and entrepreneur, Steve DeAngelo, Harborside is now overseen by FLRish Retail Management & Security Services LLC.
Over the past decade, DeAngelo and his team have introduced many industry standards. Harborside was first in the nation to offer lab-tested, CBD-rich medicine; first in the country to support education for seniors, veterans and families with severely ill children; and the first to treat children with Dravet syndrome. Harborside is one of the prime advocates of diversity, compliance, sustainability and social justice in the industry. As California moves to enact Proposition 64, Harborside is devoted to ensuring that their core values are integrated into adult-use legalization, and to remain true to their mission: “To help build a world that lives by the values cannabis teaches us.”
