Mark Zuckerberg, the chief executive officer of Meta, is set to visit South Korea and meet with LG Electronics' boss, Cho Joo Wan. They are expected to discuss possible collaboration for developing advanced mixed-reality headsets.
Industry insiders shared this information on Monday, Feb. 26. Zuckerberg is arriving in Seoul sometime this week. As per the Korea Herald, LG Electronics is currently arranging a meeting between the two CEOs.
An official at LG Electronics confirmed the news by saying, "We are currently arranging the meeting, but nothing has been decided yet." The exact date is still unknown, but the meeting will likely happen on Wednesday.
Mixed Reality Headset Development
Zuckerberg and Cho are expected to discuss developing advanced mixed-reality VR headsets together. This type will combine augmented and virtual reality technologies, and it is being designed to compete in the growing market for this device.
It was noted that many tech leaders are teaming up to create and launch new devices that are transforming the IT sector and their usage. For instance, Samsung Electronics has signed a deal with Google and Qualcomm to develop XR technology, and it may also release its own XR headset this year.
Wedding Itinerary in Zuckerberg's Asian Tour
Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg is on a mini-Asian tour in Japan for sword-making business talks. He will soon arrive in Seoul for a possible mixed reality headsets deal with LG Electronics. On top of these schedules, it was reported that he also attended a luxurious pre-wedding event for the son of Mukesh Ambani, a multi-billionaire and chairman of Reliance Industries.
AFP reported via Yahoo! News that Zuckerberg is traveling with his family, and they have side trips as he attends business meetings. In any case, the pre-wedding in India is taking place from Mar. 1 to Mar. 3.
