Mel B 2018: ‘America’s Got Talent’ Judge to Enter Rehab for PTSD; Ex-Husband Stephen Belafonte Spotted with Brunette

Mel B

Mel B, whose real name is Melanie Brown, is seeking treatment for PTSD or post-traumatic stress disorder. It was said the former Spice Girl member is checking in to a facility in the U.K. to deal with her alcohol and sex addiction. Her close friend, Rusty Updegraff, alleged that she is “sex-crazed” and sleeps around with up to three men in one day.

According to The Sun, Mel B admitted that she was diagnosed with the said mental health condition and pointed to her messy divorce with Stephen Belafonte as the major cause for her diagnosis.

"It has been unbelievably traumatic reliving an emotionally abusive relationship and confronting so many massive issues in my life,” the singer reportedly said in a statement. "I am being very honest about drinking to numb my pain but that is just a way a lot of people mask what is really going on.”

She added, “Sometimes it is too hard to cope with all the emotions I feel. But the problem has never been about sex or alcohol -- it is underneath all that."

Furthermore, the paper mentioned that Mel B has reached the “crisis point” but she is handling it well for now and decided to seek help by getting a proper therapy program. As mentioned in the report, she intends to enter the rehab in the next few weeks.

Commenting on her decision to be confined to a rehabilitation facility for treatment, Mel B said that she knows it will work best for her. She also confessed that she is struggling but thinks she can deal with PTSD with the help from the professionals.

Now, just a day after Mel B revealed her plans to seek help for PTSD, her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte was spotted with a mystery woman on Tuesday, Aug. 28. The 43-year-old film producer was photographed while chilling out with a brunette in a balcony, The Daily Mail reported.

The pair later rode a motorcycle and went around the neighborhood. Judging by their actions and activities, it is possible that the unidentified woman is Belafonte’s new girl.

Following the reports that she is an alcoholic and sex addict, Mel B clarified that she is not going to rehab for these issues. As per USA Today, the “AGT” judge denied she is an alcohol and sex addicted and instead cited her abusive marriage for her move to start a therapy.

Mel B and Stephen Belafonte ended their 10-year marriage last year and their divorce was finalized in December 2017. Although they have four daughters in all, 6-year-old Madison is the only one they share while the rest are from previous relationships.
