The family of Michael Schumacher rarely releases official statements since the Formula One legend met a skiing accident in 2013. But, recently, they addressed the public for an important cause.
Sabine Kehm, who has been the Schumacher family’s official spokesperson, released a statement to announce their support for the release of a poster honoring the retired F1 driver. However, they are staying true to their original request to have the details of his medical recovery private.
"We are delighted to be partnering with ZOOM to raise money for the Keep Fighting Foundation. This is a stunning way to celebrate Michael's iconic career and by the way a very beautiful poster,” Kehm said (via GPblog).
At the center of the said poster is a Ferrari vehicle to illustrate Michael Schumacher’s success in F1. The bottom of the image features the years when Schumacher won the F1 World Championship written in between the letters of the word “Champion.”
Schumacher currently holds the highest number of F1 world title wins. Five of which were acquired consecutively from 2000 to 2004 while driving for Scuderia Ferrari. The first two were won in 1994 and 1995 while he was still with Mild Seven Benetton.
The poster is printed on an A2-sized paper with silk finish and costs £20 or around $25. Fans of Michael Schumacher can now purchase the memorabilia that would benefit the retired driver’s Keep Fighting Initiative.
As fans can observe, not one detail about Schumacher’s latest health condition was mentioned. In 2014, his wife Corinna Schumacher addressed the media and asked to “let our family in peace." At the same time, Kehm confirmed the F1 icon was already at a stable condition at the time.
Then in 2016, the same year when Michael Schumacher’s Keep Fighting Initiative was established, Kehm reiterated that the former Ferrari driver’s health condition shall remain a private topic. “Michael has always been very protective of his privacy, even during the most successful times of his career. He has always made sure there is a clear and distinct line between his public persona and his private one,” Kehm previously explained.
