Netflix recently released the latest trailer for “Narcos” season 4, providing a more comprehensive look at the series, which is arriving next month. The show presses the rewind button to depict the beginnings of the “Rockefeller of marijuana,” a.k.a. Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna), and how his empire paved the way for the Mexican drug war.
The main players in the “Narcos” season 4 storyline are Félix Gallardo and DEA Agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Peña). As historical accounts and the trailer reveal, the story will end tragically for the U.S. federal agent.
The latest preview of “Narcos” season 4 shows Félix Gallardo as a young drug trafficker whom other drug lords used to mock. But his marijuana operations will later give him a high-profile reputation, attracting other Mexican drug lords in building an alliance that would later be known as the Guadalajara Cartel.
The newest trailer, released last week, opens with someone digging up a well in 1980. It alludes to the show’s new storyline in “Narcos” season 4 that focuses on the beginnings of a drug trafficking empire that Félix Gallardo led.
Agent Camarena takes on undercover work, enabling him to establish a deep intelligence network. It helps him gather enough information to lead authorities in raiding and destroying Félix Gallardo’s 1,300-acre marijuana field, a crucial sequence in “Narcos” season 4. Unfortunately, Agent Camarena’s work will lead to his demise as Félix Gallardo orders for his abduction, torture, and murder.
Aside from the race between Agent Camarena and Félix Gallardo, the “Narcos” season 4 trailer also confirms it will touch on the connection between the Mexican Cartel and the Colombian drug trade. Félix Gallardo’s drug trade will make the leap from trafficking marijuana to the illegal shipments of cocaine.
“Narcos” season 4 is officially titled “Narcos: Mexico.” The new series branding signals major changes in the series format and narrative. However, just like the first three seasons of the franchise, the latest trailer ensures that the upcoming season will carry out a narrative that is still “inspired by true events.” “Narcos” season 4 comes out on Nov. 16 on Netflix.
